Memphis Belle Brief

One of my larger briefs for FMP, is to create a range of promotional tools for Leeds based boutique Memphis Belle, a small yet unique boutique relatively unknown to mainstream shoppers due to its small almost hidden location.

The store specializes in a vintage inspired dresses such as swing and wiggle dresses, made by the shops own unique personal tailor, as well as accessories, hosiery and other pin-up inspired items. The shop also has a large selection of fancy dress costumes available to buy, something which should be a heavy point in the promotion as Leeds is such a student (ie. Otely run, fancy dress) population.

So to begin my research, I will begin looking at similar companies attempts a promotion and the artists involved.

Pin-up based underwear retailer What Katy Did focus their designs on vintage inspirations and allowing the photography to be the central image within their promotional materials.

While Agent Provocateur goes for a more seductive and decadent approach.

Looking into similar independent vintage inspired retailers, in this case Vivien of Holloway and the style and promotion behind their business specializing in swing dresses inspired by vintage cuts.
