New route with Cosmetic Packaging ideas

From tutorials through this brief it soon became clear that I was being too vague about the audience intended for the production and branding of the Witchcraft products, I soon realised that it was more productive to aim the brand at a niche of cosmetic buyers, the product is decadent & over the top, so the first thing I thought of was to aim it at those based in theatrics and performance, then obviously this soon became more relative to my own personal interests and participation in burlesque stage performance so I decided knowing my audience well this would be in the right direction to take my brand.

I thought of who else I could target with my brand to benefit my designs, then I thought of transvestities and cross dressers, fetish artists and body painters, all have a large focus of their cosmetics and appearence.

So I've been looking for inspiration regarding my new niche audience to aim these products towards and have been looking at David La Chapelles work, including his decadent and sexy advert for Boots.

Gemma Correll Illustration

I found out about Gemmas work when I was researching for the Anorak brief as she was a featured artist in the Autumn issue, again another big name in the craft & illustration circuit her style is lovely and recognizable.

One particular piece she did really hit home for me!

And some of the products available in her shop!

Memo

While doing my research out and about regarding Fox Bunting, as stated on my PPD blog I made a visit to a craft fair in Leeds Town Hall, there I met the lovely lady behind Hello Memo, Helen, who was lovely enough to let me take a few snaps of her lovely stall filled with lovely illustration based crafts and gifts for sale!

Check out the stuffed squirrel too!

So intrigued by her stuff I had a wander over to her site and found some even more lovely design work!

Rose & Co Apothecary!

Leeds based store Rose & Co is a treat for packaging enthusiasts looking for a more vintage feel to their toiletries and cosmetics, as I 've been researching and questioning my target audience it seems that most of their choices can be swayed by aesthetically pleasing packaging, wanting something that looks good in their bedrooms or bathrooms, and what would look sweeter than Rose & Co products!

Burts Bees!

As  well as looking into innovative designs for cosmetics and toiletries, I've been looking into brands that are not only reputable but are known for aesthetically pleasing packaging, decor rather than structure, in this case Burts Bees, a cosmetic company based using bees wax for it's products.

Cosmetic Packaging

Next up, research into lovely and eye catching MOISTURIZER packaging!

Cosmetic Packaging

Continuing my research for this project, I have begun looking into innovative designs for each of the specific products i'm creating, in this case LIPSTICK, looking into eye-catching packaging and design, making it more than just a simple cosmetic.
