Since the idea of designing for a shop front is something relatively new to me, researching current artists based in such a discipline is a good starting point, it seems the more I research, the more I'm attracted to producing something for such a format.

I didn't even realize until now while I was browsing other blogs that Rob Ryan is currently having an Exhibition at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, I feel a christmas visit coming on, exciting!
Some of the exhibition work below including the accompanying book, want!
Continuing my research into a more craft based practice, or more so illustration based crafts I've been researching more and more artists, Parami Panda crotchets caught my eye, especially their festive range!
I love the work below by Liam Roberts, currently showcasing on the Dieline, I wanted to link it to my Anorak illustration style, the whimsical childlike illustrative type is really lovely and the white print on the brown bag gives it that low-fi style.
The last of my briefs, the Ted Baker brief is a window display driven design, this is going to be only a week or so time wise, the brief doesn't have any mandatories so I think this will be based on my concept and ideas for the project rather than the production.
This is a seasonal based brief so obviously autum/winter/christmas are possible themes, but the brief is pushing towards that AND a sense of British humour!
Research.

Previous window displays
Their previous designs have been sleek yet playful, they're almost kitsch in the style of some of them, this will act as a good starting point for my designs.
From tutorials through this brief it soon became clear that I was being too vague about the audience intended for the production and branding of the Witchcraft products, I soon realised that it was more productive to aim the brand at a niche of cosmetic buyers, the product is decadent & over the top, so the first thing I thought of was to aim it at those based in theatrics and performance, then obviously this soon became more relative to my own personal interests and participation in burlesque stage performance so I decided knowing my audience well this would be in the right direction to take my brand.
I thought of who else I could target with my brand to benefit my designs, then I thought of transvestities and cross dressers, fetish artists and body painters, all have a large focus of their cosmetics and appearence.
So I've been looking for inspiration regarding my new niche audience to aim these products towards and have been looking at David La Chapelles work, including his decadent and sexy advert for Boots.
I found out about Gemmas work when I was researching for the Anorak brief as she was a featured artist in the Autumn issue, again another big name in the craft & illustration circuit her style is lovely and recognizable.
One particular piece she did really hit home for me!
While doing my research out and about regarding Fox Bunting, as stated on my PPD blog I made a visit to a craft fair in Leeds Town Hall, there I met the lovely lady behind Hello Memo, Helen, who was lovely enough to let me take a few snaps of her lovely stall filled with lovely illustration based crafts and gifts for sale!
Check out the stuffed squirrel too!
So intrigued by her stuff I had a wander over to her site and found some even more lovely design work!
