Bread packaging research

Continuing investigating for the Hovis brief, rather than just focusing on Hovis I want to investigate other styles of design regarding bread, here I'm look at found examples of packaging, I'm aware the brief doesn't require a package design for the bread but I believe investigating this will still benefit me.

I love the designs below for Silver Hills Bakery by Karacters Design Group, really fun and warming designs but still with that homely feel that bread reflects.

Hovis Merchandise

Some of the most iconic merchandise produced in the Uk were the Hovis tins, the brief though not definite, hints that they would like these to be considered as a possible outcome for the design.

These are the original designs below, it's a thought to perhaps design a new style of one to bring it up to date and relaunch something they have been known for.

Hovis Brief Research

Taking on the Hovis Merchandising brief as the first brief for my FMP, looking to do something playful and lighthearted to ease myself into the briefs and think this is a good start, initially looking at iconic merchandise and imagery from Hovis to gain a better sense of who they are.

The contrast between the packaging of the actual bread is that of modern and traditional,  for this brief, it requires a more traditional and family approach towards it, something homely, warming rather than cold and minimal.

The advert below is one of their most iconic promotional tools, I wasn't even born when this was broadcast and I can still recall it, the music specifically.

Relaunching themselves with yet another iconic advert, below, a spoof on the initial advert shows the young boy running through time through British history, it's interesting to note their focus on Britannia based imagery, something to consider for the designs I will produce.

Shop Design Research

Since the idea of designing for a shop front is something relatively new to me, researching current artists based in such a discipline is a good starting point, it seems the more I research, the more I'm attracted to producing something for such a format.

Camilla Engman

Camillas work is absolutely beautiful, a lovely style of printed illustration, but what really caught my eye is newly released book of her work!

Crafty research

Continuing my research into a more craft based practice, or more so illustration based crafts I've been researching more and more artists, Parami Panda crotchets caught my eye, especially their festive range!
